Hot Yoga
HOT Yoga Classes - Featuring FAR Infrared & what to expect
In a HOT yoga class you will experience a gentle heat as you move through class. This is the effect of our state-of-the-art FAR infrared heating system.
Infrared Heat? What is it?
Infrared heaters convert light directly to heat, warming nearby objects without raising the air temperature. This allows a student to absorb heat while the surrounding air does not. This type of heat is most like natural sunlight.
Since 80% of the light that reaches the Earth is infrared, it’s already making it a form of light easily processed by our bodies. The air itself does not get hot with infrared heat, thereby making it suitable and tolerable for most students. Infrared heat does not recirculate air thereby reducing the circulation of dirty air and bacteria.
How Does It Work? Is it Safe?
Infrared heat differs greatly from, a regular heating systems that heats the air in a room. This is because the heat gets absorbed by the skin – thus having a superior effect on increased circulation, muscle flexibility and often detoxification. Your body absorbs infrared waves, and molecules begin to vibrate – thus, triggering them to expel the fat and impurities from your cells into your blood stream. These toxins will then be released from your body in the form of sweat. This can yield a cleansing-like effect at the cellular level.
This kind of heat is a creation of the safe, spectrum light that is invisible to our eyes. Just as the sun has been heating people here on earth for thousands of years, the heater radiates sun-like warmth to our indoor space.

BENEFITS OF HOT YOGA
Strengthening, Cleansing and Removal of Toxins
Hot Yoga strengthens and deeply cleanses the system adding intensity to the work that you would normally get in practice and raises the level of purification exponentially. Doing the same basic practice that you would in a regular temperature room, you will work harder in a heated and humidified room. Your body will get stronger, and remove far more toxins from the system.Aside from bone strength, supporting body weight while maintaining a pose can help improve bone mineral density..
The Heart, Internal Organs, and improved performance in hot weather
If people who have trouble with the heat take their time getting used to practicing in a heated room, they will begin to find that they have less trouble. On hot summer days, when they might have been suffering, they will probably be able to maintain normal activity levels and some may even become able to perform at peak activity levels. This is because the heart works harder. The work done in the heat causes the arteries to dilate and thins the blood so more blood flows as the heart is challenged to get nutrients and oxygen to every cell in the body. The internal organs are also challenged. As the body gets used to practicing in a heated environment, the system learns what to do to keep itself from overheating in this unique circumstance.
Increased Flexibility
The heat also softens up muscle tissue so it is able to stretch and open. Those who are less flexible will find this to be a huge advantage to practicing in a heated environment. This aspect of the heat needs to be handled with caution. While muscles, which might be tight, are more able to open so are ligaments and tendons, which you do not want to overstretch. The amount of opening and deep-stretching that can naturally occur as a result of a well-balanced Hot Yoga practice should not be pushed too far. In the long run, proceeding thoughtfully and with care, while using the heat to help you open your tight spots and trouble areas, will get you much farther than trying to blast through your restrictions as quickly as possible.
HOW AND WHAT TO EXPECT
HOT yoga can be incredibly beneficial, whether you’re looking to improve your strength and flexibility or an opportunity to quiet your mind.
To some, hot yoga can be intimidating. The following points will help clarify some of your questions and help you work up the confidence you need to give it a shot.
The heat of the studio might feel intense at first but your body will adjust to it. Know that it can take a couple of classes for your body to become acclimated. It's important to stay hydrated, breathe, and take breaks as needed.
We also ask you to stay in the room so your body can acclimate to the space appropriately. Though it might be tempting to run out of the heated room, don’t! The sudden change in temperature might be too much. Just know that soon your mind will be so engaged with what’s going on with your body—balance, placement, alignment, etc… that it will forget about the heat.
HYDRATION & ELECTROLYTES It’s important to hydrate!
Whether you drink tap water or filtered water, all water has some electrolytes in it. Electrolytes include potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium. Electrolytes are minerals that conduct electricity when dissolved in water. They are typically distributed in the body as fluid. They are found in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids.
In order for our muscles to contract, we need sufficient amounts of sodium and potassium to derive enough energy to enable our muscles to contract.
Electrolytes are essential for:
Fluid balance
Regulation of blood pressure
Muscle contraction, including your heart
Maintaining the correct acidity of your blood
Nerves to transmit information to the body
Moving waste out of the body and cells
Moving nutrients into the cells
Electrolyte balance is key. For those who practice Hot Yoga, if not hydrated properly, you risk developing symptoms of dehydration such as fainting, low energy, weakness, headaches, numbness, tingling, and cramping.
Hydrating before class is key to prepare for the class, and hydrating after class is necessary to replenish lost electrolytes.
