Is this your first time Yoga?
Perhaps you'd like to ask yourself, "What is it that I am hoping to achieve and/or receive from a Yoga practice"?... Many people come to Yoga to become more flexible and/or gain more strength. Some people are searching more quiet and/or stillness in their mind? Other people want to deeper their understanding of the philosophy and/or experience a more spiritual practice. This is an important question to ask yourself because there are different lessons for different desires/paths.
Not sure what style will fit your needs? Do the test!
You can learn more about the different classes and styles we offer at Yogaseads at the yogastyles pages.
Make sure you wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in,... (leggings / shorts and a t-shirt. *Layers/socks in the Fall/Winter is advised because the Studio can be a bit cooler in these seasons).
Here at Yogaseads, we provide Mats, Blankets, Bolsters and Blocks all free of charge and for your convenience.
There's always water and tea provoded,... As it's best to hydrate before and after class.
Yoga is done barefoot,.. So please remove your shoes upon entering the Studio.
Make sure you are on time (arriving at least 10-15 minutes before the start of the lesson) so that you have time to settle in, ask questions, get to know the teacher and share any injuries or other important issues (pregnancy, recent surgeries, etc.) so that we can help you where needed/necessary.
No telephones or personal belongings/bags in the room. You can leave all your 'stuff' on a shelf compartment when you enter (the door is always locked during class.)
At the end of the lesson there is always a final relaxation: Savasana (5-10mins of stillness/rest).
After class has finished, we ask you spray/clean your mat and hang it up outside Shala on rack to dry. Please put away any/all props you might have used/borrowed.
If you have any questions/feedback for the Teacher, please don't hesitate to ask/share.
Namaste,
"The light in me sees/honors the light in you"
("Namaste" is often said to one another at the end of each class as a way to close practice, to honor one another and bid farewell.
